African Safari Amazing wildlife experience in Botswana thanks to The African Wild - mix of lodge and travelling safari - super expert guides supported by amazing teams. Had to change whole itinerary last minute due to flooding with minimal stress or issue - vision of experience kept. Highly recommend - thank you everyone in Moremi crossing and Real Kingfisher mobile safari!Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

Botswana+Kwando=Magic I just wanted to drop you a line to thank you for organising such an amazing trip. It was all that we hoped for. We hadn’t stayed in unfenced accommodation before so we absolutely felt we were ‘in the wild’ and drunk in all of the amazing sounds of the delta and the animals. Our sightings at Mna Dinare were fabulous - the wild dogs. Cheetah brothers, leopards, a huge buffalo herd, the lioness sisters and of course the Caracal. Spending time and observing a large herd of elephants of various ages was also very special. The team was great, especially our Guide & Tracker, Luke & Becky. It was also wonderful to learn about how the concession worked and how our visit helps to support the community which as you know was a key factor in why we chose Kwando. We really loved the camp at 4 Rivers and the food was fantastic, especially to cater for my pescatarian/vegetarian needs. Again, the team and our Guide & Tracker Denis and BB really looked after us. Our main hope at this camp was to see a male lion as we had only seen one close up before once before, so to spend time with an entire pride multiple times was very special. The transfers to, between and back from the camps all went seamlessly so thanks to everyone who coordinated this. Faith and the other lady at the aigpirt (her names escapes me atm) were very patient (as we were a bit unorganised on arrival) and do helpful. We didn’t have to work anything out for ourselves. The delta truly is a magical place and we feel privileged to have experienced it. We will likely return in the not too distant future. Thanks again for everythingPosted on Tripadvisor![]()

Amazing safari - a trip of a lifetime Our safari in Botswana was truly special — a memorable trip that exceeded every expectation and left us already dreaming of returning. From the moment we arrived in the Okavango Delta, the sense of adventure began. Driving off-road in a private reserve meant we were incredibly close to the wildlife, creating unforgettable encounters in their natural habitat. The variety of animals we saw was extraordinary, and the knowledge of the guides and trackers brought every sighting to life. We began at Chobe Safari Lodge, which provided the perfect base for a visit to the spectacular Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe — an awe-inspiring experience in itself. From there, we stayed in tented camps at Labala, Lagoon and 4 Rivers, each one immaculate and thoughtfully designed. The accommodation was luxurious yet authentic, with large bathrooms, comfortable seating areas, and both indoor and outdoor showers — all with wonderful views over the bush. One of the absolute highlights was witnessing a pride of fourteen lions “advertising” in the bush — a truly amazing and powerful moment we will never forget. We also enjoyed a walking safari and a ride in a mokoro (Botswana-style punting), both of which offered a peaceful and beautiful perspective of the landscape. Flying between camps on light aircraft added another layer of excitement and adventure, giving us stunning aerial views of the Delta along the way. The Botswanan people we met were incredibly friendly, kind and hospitable. Their warmth was infectious, and there always seemed to be singing and dancing — they truly know how to celebrate life. Mealtimes were wonderfully sociable, with all guests gathering around one table. With only nine tents at each camp, we quickly got to know one another, which made the experience even more special. A huge thank you to Rory Sheldon at The African Wild for organising such a seamless and perfectly balanced itinerary. As a local company based in Botswana, their knowledge and support were invaluable, and they stayed connected with us throughout our trip. We even met up in Maun on our way home, where Rory kindly treated us to lunch — a thoughtful and memorable end to an extraordinary holiday. What can I say other than thank you — it really was the trip of a lifetime. We’re already hoping to return! ✨🦁🌍Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

Best safari ever this was our 4th African safari and was way better than all the others. We wanted to see the wild dogs this trip and Rory tailored our trip perfectly and we not only saw them on our first full day but also saw them make a kill. Apart from the wild dogs we've never encountered so much wildlife as in the Okavango delta. I would recommend using the African wild to book a safari as Rory listens to what you want and arranges everything to perfectionPosted on Tripadvisor![]()

Perfect, easy, exciting The African Wild organized the best Safari vacation for me. It included Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe & Zambia, The Okavango Delta in Botswana. Every detail was perfect, not a glitch. Each camp was unique and interesting. Great experience. As a solo traveler, I highly recommend The African Wild for organized travel.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

Zambian Safari The Zambian adventure we had involved South Luangwa National Park and Lower Zambezi National Park and it’s safe to say it was an absolutely spectacular experience. We saw tons of gorgeous wildlife, met lovely people, and saw nothing but stunning nature. Our experience was nothing short of incredible, feet away from lions and elephants yet feeling nothing but secure thanks to the wonderful guides. Our stays in each and every location were comfortable and pleasant-everyone was beyond welcoming, going above and beyond tomake us feel at home. We were able to learn so much Zambian culture and see so many things we would not otherwise see. Overall, it was an absolutely lovely experience with no complaints whatsoever. We can’t wait to be back!Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

flawless coordination My wife & I had a recent 12 day custom safari to Botswana. The trip was organized by Rory Sheldon who did a remarkable job. He had a conversation with us regarding timeframe/budget etc and put together a trip which met all our expectations and more. The coordination was flawless. I would rate this trip as even better than a custom trip we went on 8 years ago to Tanzania organized through an international well recognized luxury travel agency.I would have no hesitation in recommending Rory as a resource to help coordinate a trip to this part of the world.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

Magical family adventure We could not have had a more incredible trip to Botswana! We are a family with 2 kids and Rory was recommended to us as someone who could put together a tailor made adventure which would cater for everyone’s individual needs. His knowledge of the Okavango and the lodges within it along with mobile safari companies meant he was able to talk us through all the options available in detail then fine tune what would work best for us. Being a group which spanned an age range from 6 to 55 this could have been quite a task but Rory’s intimate knowledge of the locations and his relationships with the companies used meant it was perfect for everyone. In both the lodge and on the mobile safari Rory booked for us the staff went out of their way to make it special for the kids. They were immediately hooked at spotting animals and seeing them so close up meant they could learn so much and always had a thousand questions for the wonderful guides! All the staff were incredibly adaptable and always made sure food choices and timings would work for us. They were so friendly and offered the kids lovely activities and challenges to do within the lodge and on the mobile safari creating a truly magical atmosphere for us all. Thank you Rory for everything you did to create an unforgettable 2 weeks in Botswana!Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

The most incredible experience! We travelled as a family of 6 from the UK for a big birthday celebratory trip, meeting up with 2 cousins in Botswana as part of our holiday. From day 1 Rory was incredibly helpful, listening carefully to everything we wanted to do, and creating a completely unique itinerary for us. There were various logistics involved which all worked incredibly smoothly - transfers between airports and hotels and camps were seamless, and the places we stayed were just amazing - honestly the stuff of dreams - we felt we were on a film set sometimes! The Okavango Delta was full of animals and we saw so many of them at very close quarters. We camped in the park, listening to hippos and lions at night. We drove across lots of different terrains, and had sundowner drinks with elephants close by. Everyone we were hosted by was extremely kind, welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. Rory was always on hand and we felt completely looked after - he had such excellent recommendations and his contacts and knowledge made our experience truly magical. I would not hesitate to recommend the African Wild to anyone wanting to visit Botswana.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

My friend and I have just returned from a 10 day safari in northern Botswana, including Chobe National Park ( with a day trip to Victoria Falls) and the Okavango Delta. Our brief was for a truly authentic experience where we could observe wildlife in its natural habitat. We didn’t want high luxury accommodation just comfortable, tasteful and safe. The African Wild did not disappoint. The itinerary surpassed our expectations and our experience was incredible. We saw so much wild life and learned so much from the very experienced guides and trackers. Over our 10 day trip we stayed in 4 separate locations, all with different landscapes. Some with long grasses, others with more open spaces and all offering different experiences. They were all amazing. The accommodation was understated but stunning, the food delicious and the staff were very friendly. I would highly recommend The African Wild for the depth of knowledge and experience and excellent attention to detail. They completely understood the brief and delivered it ‘ in spades’ Awesome!Posted on Google![]()

We had a fantastic time on our honeymoon. Rory was amazing in organising what we wanted to do and didn’t just create the standard type of holiday, it was full of adventure and exactly what we asked for. We managed to see all the animals that we wanted to see but also meet some amazing people. Rory constantly checked in on us throughout and made sure we got everything we needed. I would highly recommend.+2Posted on Google![]()

This was just fantastic. There are so many offers out there for Okavango safaris and we found it hard to figure out what‘s best. The African Wild was just amazing — from start to finish. Rory took great personal care of us. He is from Botswana but lived abroad also and we found it was just amazing to experience the country and the nature on a trip organised by the team of someone with such a unique perspective and insights. Fully recommend this for Okavango safaris!Load more
