Camp Kalahari is often described as the little sister camp of San and Jack’s Camp. It is slightly more rustic and more affordable than it’s sisters, yet still offers all of the charms of the Makgadikgadi area. And yes, it is in the Makgadikgadi area and not the Kalahari per se which is slightly south east of the pans.
The lodge has a number of adventure options including quad bike adventures and bush walks with local San (Basarwa) guides. This is also a great camp to visit if you are interested in seeing Meerkats. They have a habituated meerkat community living close to the camp and can be visited daily.
The camp consists of 12 beautiful Meru tents, comfortably decorated but nothing over the top. This is a great camp for families or large groups. It’s relaxed and is an amazing place to spend some time.

Personal Thoughts on Camp Kalahari
This is such an excellent option for exploring the Makgadikgadi Pans with kids. Excellent service, and the staff are just astounding. But really it’s the little extra things that make it worthwhile. You get the same activities as you would at San Camp and Jack’s Camp, at a lower price. The facilities are not as over the top as the other two camps, but it really deosn’t make a difference as the level of comfort here is high. Kids love this place, and they really go all out to make sure that families visiting the camp are well taken care of.
