Eagle Island

Eagle Island Lodge sits on picturesque Xaxaba Island in the Xaxaba Concession (NG27B), one of the earliest and finest sites chosen for photographic safaris in the Okavango Delta. Looking out across the waterways toward the Moremi Game Reserve, the lodge benefits from the free movement of wildlife between the two areas.

The camp’s 12 deluxe tented rooms are raised on wooden platforms beneath traditional thatch roofs, each with discreet air conditioning, an expansive deck and a private plunge pool overlooking the floodplains. An elegant main area continues the same considered design, blending modern comfort with classic safari style.

Emphasis here is on the slower safari: exploring the Delta by mokoro and motorboat, walking safaris with professional guides, and catch-and-release fishing during the wetter months from roughly May to October. Visits to nearby Xaxaba village offer an authentic glimpse of traditional Okavango life.

When water levels drop low enough, typically September to May, game drives by day and night are also on offer, with strong sightings of predators and prey across this productive stretch of the Delta. Additional activities such as helicopter flights and horseback riding are available at an extra cost.
