Kala

Kala Camp lies in the southern reaches of the Jedibe Concession (NG24), at the base of the Okavango panhandle, just 6km from its sister property, Setari. Set amid permanent swamp that holds water year-round regardless of flood levels, Kala is a classic water safari camp surrounded by deep channels, lagoons and palm-studded islands.

The camp comprises just seven en-suite tents raised on wooden platforms, decorated in an earthy, boho-chic style. A swimming pool and a boma with an open-air fire pit complete the intimate, rustic setting, while a private Tree House option sleeping up to six guests offers an even more exclusive stay with a dedicated guide, chef and waiters.

With no large tracts of dry land nearby, this is not big-game country. Instead, Kala rewards guests who want to slow down and immerse themselves in the Delta’s waterways, papyrus-lined channels and prolific birdlife. Game drives are offered only in the dry season once flood waters recede, generally from October to May.

Activities center on boating and mokoro excursions through the lagoons, guided island walks, and excellent fishing. It is a place to appreciate the quieter side of the Okavango: water-based birding, tranquil scenery and the gentle rhythm of life on the floodplains.
