Dinner with elephants at Kanga Camp

Kanga Camp

Owned by African Bush Camps, Kanga Camp is one of the more interesting lodges found in Zimbabwe. Located at the heart of the Mana Pools UNESCO World Heritage Site, the lodge is built on raised platforms around the Kanga Pan, which has annual water and is a centre of wildlife activity. Elephants are viewed from the main deck during breakfast, lunch, and dinner, along with the occasional lion sighting. The wildlife sightings are in fact so good from the main deck that it is oten not necessary to go out on Game Drives, with guests often opting to stay in the camp and view a host of different animals from the comfort of a deck chair, while also enjoying a delicious bite to eat or a cocktail.

There is something very remote about this camp. It is excluded from the rest of the world and feels completely off the beaten track. It’s exclusive, and the natural area around the camp is untamed and wild. All electricity at the camp is generated from solar panel farms close to the lodge.

The camp has six lush tents that are lavishly decorated, as well as two beautiful honeymoon suites. The Honeymoon suites can also be used as family suites. All suites face out onto the pan and have ensuite bathrooms.

Not to be missed at Kanga Camp is the special hide, from where leopard and Wild Dogs are regularly seen. A number of other activities are also available at the lodge including game drives, and game walks. You can also enjoy seasonal fishing.

The camp is best reached by light aircraft from the airport in Victoria Falls, but flights can be arranged from other areas in Zimbabwe included Matusadona National Park as well as Hwange.

All in all, Kanga Camp is an excellent safari choice for anyone wishing to explore the beauty of the natural wilderness in the area with a touch of luxury.
