Mpala Jena belongs to the Great Plains Conservation group and is one of the most exclusive lodges in Zimbabwe. Located approximately 15 kilometers from Victoria Falls, the camp has a private villa as well as a number of luxurious suites. All suites and the villa have private decks looking out over the Zambezi River, and owing to its excellent location, guests are able to view wildlife from the comfort and safety of their rooms and from their own viewing decks.
The camp is under renovation in 2020, with plans to reopen in 2021. There is a lot of excitement about what the new revamp will look like, and if rumours are to be believed then we can probably expect something very special and out of the ordinary.
The camp is located deep inside the Zambezi National Park, and this gives it some exclusivity. Do not expect to see other tourists while staying here. Game drives are personalized, and the guides know what they are doing. This is what sets Great Plains Conservation camps apart. It’s all about the attention to detail, and a lot of that detail is focused on creating an exclusive wildlife experience, that is also luxurious and comfortable.
Because it is a member of the Great Plains Group, you can expect some exclusive service from this extraordinary camp, with private chefs, private guides, and potentially the most luxurious accommodation found anywhere along the banks of the Zambezi River. The only lodge that competes in this category is Matetsi Lodge which is located further upstream.
This is a good lodge option if you want to combine a luxury tour of the falls with a trip to the Okavango, as Great Plains offers a number of combo specials that tie in to their lodge offering in Botswana such as Duba Plains Camp.
