Oddballs

Oddballs Camp sits on the edge of Chief’s Island, in the heart of the Okavango Delta and bordering the Moremi Game Reserve, within the Gunns Concession. One of the original camps in the Delta, it remains one of the most affordable fly-in safari experiences in the region, reached by a scenic light aircraft flight from Maun.

The camp accommodates up to 30 guests in fourteen dome tents, including two family units, each raised on elevated wooden decks and shaded by canvas and surrounding trees. Every tent has its own en-suite facilities with a rustic outdoor bucket shower, hot and cold running water, and an elevated bed that feels like a treehouse retreat open to the sounds of the bush.

Communal areas include a dining room overlooking the Boro Channel, and a bar and lounge with raised viewing decks perfect for sundowners and wildlife watching. The bar runs on an honesty system, and evenings are spent around the bonfire listening to stories from camp staff, all part of Oddballs’ relaxed, back-to-basics character.

Guests are paired with their own personal guide, a “man of the swamp”, for mokoro and walking excursions limited to two guests per guide. Game and birdlife are prolific in the surrounding channels and islands, with walking safaris offering close encounters with zebra, giraffe and other wildlife rarely possible from a vehicle.
