This is an adventure camp in the Okavango Delta. Pelo means heart in Setswana and the camp was thus named to reflect the shape of the island on which the lodge is built.
Nestled in the Jao Concession, this is an adventure camp operated by the Jao Collection The camp is rustic yet comfortable, and has a lot to offer in terms of wildlife viewings and activities. There are five tents with ensuite bathrooms and indoor and outdoor showers.

Personal Thoughts on Pelo Camp
Pelo has always had a soft spot with me — it’s such a different experience to the vehicle-based camps, and I really like what it offers. Being on that heart-shaped island in the Jao Concession, permanently flooded, with only mokoro, boating and walking on offer, it forces a slower pace that a lot of guests don’t expect but end up loving. No engines, no dust, just gliding through the floodplains — it’s about as classic an Okavango experience as you can get.
Tumie used to manage the camp, which always adds a personal connection for me whenever it comes up. Knowing the person running the show tends to shape how much confidence I have in recommending a place, and that’s certainly true here.
