Selinda Camp has been rebuilt, and simply put, it is breathtaking. It comes highly recommended. Set on the Selinda Spillway which bleeds off the Kwando River, and the Kwando region of Botswana, the camp was built by world renowned National geographic Explorers Dereck and Beverly Joubert.

The camp is likely one of the most exclusive camps in the world, and it’s pretty easy to see why. It’s oppulant, and luxurious in the way that few places could ever dream of being.

Large copper bath tubs adorn rooms that are decked out with Zanzibar doors and thick leadwood railway slab flooring.

Everything about this camp is next level. The food, the service, the wildlife. It’s all beyond expectation. This camp is a once in a lifetime experience and well worth the extra price.

Personal Thoughts on Selinda

Selinda is an amazing camp — genuinely one of the best out there. With only three suites plus the private Selinda Suite, it’s about as exclusive as it gets, and the setting on the island overlooking the Spillway, with those elephant numbers moving through, is hard to beat.

That said, it can feel a little over the top and too extravagant for my taste — the whole Earth/Wind/Water/Fire/Metal design concept, the sheer luxury of it, the immensity of the copper bathtubs.. it sometimes tips into trying too hard. But in the end, I love it anyway. I’ve visited Selinda and they treated me exceedingly well – despite me finishing all the champagne on hand as well as a 24 year old bottle of the finest scotch. It delivers on every level that actually matters, and the exclusivity of only fly-in access and three suites means it never feels anything less than special.
