Shinde Camp sits on the edge of Shinde Lagoon in the heart of the northern Okavango Delta, on a lush palm island within its own private concession bordering Moremi Game Reserve. One of the Delta’s original camps, Shinde was fully rebuilt in 2020, paying homage to its classic safari heritage while offering modern comforts amid permanent water and wide-open floodplain views.
The camp comprises eight raised, twin-bedded safari tents (doubles available on request), each connected by wooden walkways and positioned to make the most of views over either the lagoon’s waterways or the surrounding grass plains. Every tent has an en-suite bathroom with indoor and outdoor shower, and a private front deck overlooking the bush.
Guest areas feel like an intimate tree house, with a multi-tiered dining room, lounge, bar and fire pit, plus a secluded plunge pool looking out over the plains. The main camp’s raised tree house offers sweeping views over the reeded waterways of the permanent channel, a haven for birdlife.
Shinde offers a genuine combination of land and water activities year-round: day and night game drives, walking safaris, mokoro excursions, motorboat trips and fishing, all led by experienced guides in a concession renowned for strong predator sightings alongside elephant, hippo and a rich variety of birdlife. Minimum age for children is 10 years.
