Splash Camp

Splash Camp is situated in the heart of the Okavango Delta, within the Private Kwara Reserve. This brand new camp belongs to the Kwando Safaris portfolio and it offers a very relaxed, friendly and authentic atmosphere.

The area has long been known as Splash due to the huge water crossings that had to be negotiated to access the camp area.

The concession shares a 30km water boundary with the famous Moremi Game Reserve and its unique location boasts both permanent water and seasonal flood plains as well as extensive dry bush wilderness. Favoured by labyrinths of permanent water channels and secret islands this area offers the perfect delta experience, and is considered to be amongst the best in Botswana for game viewing and activities.

The camp is located around a paned lagoon with each of the 12 rooms looking out over the pan. There is game all year round, easily viewable from the rooms.

Personal Thoughts on Splash Camp

Firstly the name. I’ve always found it oddly amusing that anyone would call an Okavango Camp Splash. However, it’s also oddly alluring and remarkably on point. With an excellent location on the river channel in the Kwara channel which gives the camp permanent water, and a remarkably high quantity of wildlife, Splash makes a real Splash. It is very elegantly designed, and the interiors of the tents are quite remarkably put together. It’s a kind of avant guardesque design with a safari touch, but it is not out of place whatsoever. If anything, the design adds a real charm to the camp, and you get a real feeling of being deeply immersed in the Okavango. Splash is also a great family option and with two family tents available, their staff make a real effort to cater to youngesters as much as possible. Splash also has an amazing Private Enclave area which can be seperated for smaller groups travelling together. Overall Splash is special. There is charm here, and there is friendliness, and there is fireside laughter. Splash is all about joy.

🚙 Game Drives — off-road tracking and night drives, max. six per vehicle for a guaranteed window seat. Vehicles with enhanced features: USB ports, comfortable drop-down ladder access, storage between seats, and adjustable padded armrests as extra support for long camera lenses. Roof canopy removed at guide’s discretion or guest request when circumstances allow.
🚤 Boating — available all year. Visit the Godikwe heronry (best Sep–Dec) and fishing during open season (Mar–Dec).
🛶 Mokoro — available all year.
🚶 Nature Walks — off-road, on foot, with specialist walking guides.
