Tawana sits on the banks of the perennial Gomoti River in the south-eastern corner of the Moremi Game Reserve, one of the most prolific wildlife areas in Botswana. Named in honour of Chief Tawana Moremi, whose family set aside these ancestral hunting grounds in 1963 to help establish Moremi, the camp opened in 2024 as Natural Selection’s newest premier property and shares its ecosystem with the neighbouring Chitabe and Sandibe concessions.
There are eight spacious suites – five standard and three family units – each around 100 square metres (130 for family suites), with a separate lounge, outdoor sala and a private terrace with its own plunge pool. Suites are raised on walkways and thoughtfully oriented for privacy and uninterrupted views over the Gomoti River and surrounding floodplains, with wildlife free to wander through the entirely unfenced camp.
The communal areas centre on an elegant lounge and bar, indoor and outdoor dining, a wood-fired pizza oven and a walk-in wine bar, with a curated library covering the history of Moremi and the Batawana tribe. Guests can unwind at the 16-metre lap pool, in the gym, or around the firepit after dark, with spa and wellness treatments available in the privacy of each suite.
This stretch of Moremi offers some of the best land-based game viewing in Botswana, with healthy populations of lion, leopard and African wild dog frequently sighted just metres from camp, alongside large herds of red lechwe, hippo and Nile crocodile along the Gomoti River. Activities include day and night game drives, guided walking safaris, heli flights and bush sundowners, with over 400 bird species recorded in the reserve. Tawana is open year-round and belongs to the Natural Selection portfolio.
