Located in the north of the Okavango Delta towards the pan-handle, Vumbura Plains is a luxurious camp that actually comprises of two separate satellite camps, each with raised dining areas, comfortable delta lounges, and elegant bar areas with different views across the plains. This lodge is one of the Premier Camps in the Wilderness Safaris portfolio.

The camp is beautifully decorated, and the communal areas are adorned with impressive works of art and host luxurious sofas that invite guests to relax, read, and enjoy the view.

There are 14 luxurious rooms, all raised off the ground, and all uniquely decorated in an extravagant Vumbura Plains style. There is a lot of light entering the rooms, and rich hard word finishing completes the elegant design.

Personal Thoughts on Vumbura Plains

I like Vumbura Plains. Split into two camps but sharing the same rich concession as Little Vumbura, it gives a bit more scale and variety without losing the water-and-land balance that makes this part of the Delta special. I also think that perhaps Vumbura has the most elegant rooms of any lodge in the Delta. They are just stunning. The shower located in the middle of the room is safari sci fi. It’s hellishly romantic. There are good cheetah numbers, strong lion-buffalo action, wild dog and leopard all in the mix, plus the full activity range — game drives day and night, mokoro, boating, walking.
